Frequently Asked Questions
What types of facials do you offer? Do I choose what type of treatment I receive?
At Brave New Face, the service menu is simple: you choose either a 30, 60, or 90-minute facial. Once you are in the treatment room, I will analyze your skin in order to customize your treatment to your needs.
I understand you offer an array of modalities such as dermaplaning, microdermabrasion, etc. that may be used in my facial. Are those included in the cost? Can I select the ones I want to have used on me?
You will never be up-charged. A 30-minute facial includes ONE modality. A 60-minute facial includes TWO modalities. A 90-minute facial includes THREE modalities. While you can certainly make requests for your service to include a particular treatment, I will determine what your skin needs and make a final decision on the course of treatment.
Do you have a minimum age requirement?
I happily treat clients 13 or older. Clients under the age of 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian or have their consent to be treated.
Can I get a facial if I am pregnant, nursing, or trying to become pregnant?
Absolutely! I will always follow pregnancy-safe protocols. Please make sure to note in your Intake Form that you are pregnant, nursing, or trying to become pregnant.
What should I avoid before and after my facial?
Please make sure to follow the steps below:
- Stop the use of Retin-A, Renova, Adapalene, BHAs, AHAs, or any other intensive prescribed exfoliating products 1-2 weeks prior to your appointment.
- If you have been on Accutane, you must wait 8 months after stopping use to receive a facial.
- If you plan to get Botox or fillers, do so at least two weeks before your facial. If you’ve had any recent facial trauma/surgery, you must wait 5 months before getting a facial.
- Avoid steam rooms 48 hours before your appointment and 48 hours after your appointment to reduce any inflammation.
- If you plan to work-out before a facial, do so 2-3 hours prior to your appointment; workouts can increase the core temperature of your body which may cause the skin to be more reactive to certain treatments.
- If you have any open wounds, contagious conditions, or cold sores, please wait until they are healed to get a facial.
- Avoid waxing, shaving, tweezing, harsh exfoliation, excessive sun exposure, lash extensions, and abrasive tools 48-72 hours before your facial.
- After your facial, avoid direct sun exposure, steam rooms, excessive heat, abrasive facial tools, exfoliation, active ingredients, and waxing or hair removal for 24-48 hours. Please also follow the post-treatment advice provided.
What payment methods do you accept?
PayPal, ApplePay, Zelle, and cash are the only forms of payment accepted for services, products, and gratuity.
Why do I have to pay the full service amount upfront?
I want you to be able to float out of your service fully relaxed and not have to worry about anything else. This is also done to discourage no shows.
May I bring a guest with me to my appointment?
I want nothing more than for you to be totally at ease during your service so guests are absolutely welcome only if they are receiving a service. I love children but they are sometimes unable to keep quiet in a spa-like environment therefore I request that children under the age of 13 not accompany you to the spa. Children between 13-17 should be accompanied by an adult. I also love animals but law does not permit them in a spa facility.
How early should I arrive to my appointment?
Please do your best to arrive no more than 5 minutes early to allow time to park and prepare for your service. If you happen to arrive early, no worries! However, I do request that you remain in your vehicle until 5 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time. This to ensure each guest enjoys their full service time.
Do you offer group bookings?
Unfortunately, not at this time.
